    Proton: a subatomic particle
    Prutah: a former monetary unit of Israel
    Pul: a coin of Afghanistan
    Pula: a monetary unit of Botswana
    Pya: a copper coin of Myanmar
    Qindar/qintar: a monetary unit of Albania
    Quadrans: an ancient Roman coin
    Quantum: a fundamental unit of energy
    Quark: a hypothetical atomic particle
    Quart: a liquid measure of capacity
    Quartet: a group of four
    Qubit: a quantum bit
    Qubyte: a sequence of eight quantum bits
    Quinary: a group of five

    Quotient: the number resulting from the division of one number by another

    Pruritus: intense itching
    Ptosis: a dropping of the upper eyelid
    Ptyalism: an excessive flow of saliva
    Pukka: genuine
    Puppydom: the world of puppies
    Putsch: a suddenly executed attempt to overthrow a government
    Pyruia: the presence of pus in the urine (wow, nothing makes you more grateful than being suddenly aware of your blessings)
    Quadriga: a chariot drawn by four horses (carriage!)
    Quey: a young cow
    Quittor: an inflammation of an animal's hoof
    Quotha: interjection used to express surprise or sarcasm (can't see myself using this)

    Protyle: a hypothetical substance from which all the elements are supposedly derived
    Pseud: a person pretending to be an intellectual
    Pugilist: one who fights with his fists
    Purfle: to decorate the border of
    Purfler: one that purfles
    Qi: the vital force that in Chinese thought is inherent in all things
    Quack: to utter the characteristic cry of a duck (this definition wins for propelling the quack of a duck to nobledom)
    Quaff: to drink deeply
    Quasar: a distant celestial object emitting strong radio waves
    Quiddity: the true nature of a thing
    Quidnunc: a nosy person
    Quipu: an ancient calculating device (I remember learning about quipus in seventh grade with Mrs. Milhoan. She made them very exciting.)
    Quixotic: extremely idealistic
